Unlike previous Iron Circus anthologies, the concentration of excellent submission to “FTL, Y’all” was so high that we’ve completely foregone invitees. For the first time in ICC history, ALL the anthology participants were picked from open submissions.
Successful applicants were picked from over 400 submissions. And they are:
First post time :] Welcome to a new comic anthology project called ALLOY. Oh great, you’re thinking, do we need another one of these. WELL, yes, and let me tell you why.
I never fit into the standard boxes very well, and over time it became clear to me that most people I know are just as complicated and wonderful. We’re straight and LGBTQ, we’re all shades of skin-colors, we inhabit a spectrum of genders, we’re able and disabled, we’re from so many types of backgrounds and religions and even with all of those qualifiers, so many of us are STILL evolving every day. The box is a relic of the past, and yet every day people continue to reduce complex humans through this unfair lens of either/or.
When I was thinking about names that implied a mixture of aspects, I found words like “muddled,” “motley,” “mongrel” …is that what we’re supposed to think of ourselves?
There are a million points of intersection that form an individual, and it’s time to celebrate this complexity. This anthology is for people who never felt like they fit in a single box to have a space to show off their stories and their journeys, and to let others know what it feels like to be a unique and beautiful mixture.
So ALLOY is an anthology about creating new beauty from existing beauty. Lets empower and inspire the next generation with the love we have for ourselves through visual storytelling. The inaugural volume, Electrum, will focus on celebrating the mixed-race experience, a subject that is near and dear to my heart… we’ll see where it goes from here!

Happy February, everyone. I wanted to run a special raffle this month for my $5+ patrons, whose pledges have really helped me make my work lead to a more self-sustaining career. As you may remember I worked on a 16-page comic with artist Michele Rosenthal to be included in Microsoft’s Future Visions anthology, a collection of brand new science fiction stories by authors such as Ann Leckie and Seanan McGuire. Our entry is the same flavor of sci fi as O Human Star, with a bit of a twist thanks to Michele’s outstanding art. Over the holidays I received 5 print copies of the complete anthology that I’d like to give away to some lucky patrons! So here’s the deal:
This raffle will run through March 3rd, and is open to all patrons who pledge at least $5 this month and has a successfully processed payment at the end of the month. I’ll enter everyone eligible into a random name picker and if you’re one of the lucky 5 names I pick, you’ll be contacted by me and asked for a destination address. If I don’t hear back from you in 24 hours or you don’t want the book, I’ll pick a new name!
Our page rate is $50 per up to a maximum of 15 pages. 10 copies per contributor will also be provided. All copies purchased after the book is produced will be provided at 50% off the cover price to be sold by contributors. We also plan to incorporate bonuses to everyone if the Kickstarter over funds.

We will be printing a two color book, black with a red Pantone spot color, at 6.625" × 10.25" (standard graphic novel size).

that, if accepted, you are ceding exclusive first worldwide rights to
the story for a full calendar year from the date of publication, and
non-exclusive worldwide reprint rights in perpetuity. Intellectual

Today’s spotlight is on Blue Delliquanti and her story Optimal.
Blue is a cartoonist and the creator of the comic O Human Star. Her work has also appeared on Medium.com’s War Is Boring and in anthologies like Smut Peddler and The Sleep of Reason. Blue lives in an old house in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Blue’s Beyond Anthology comic is called Optimal. Sulla is one of the most advanced androids in the world, and every few
years she gets the chance to update her body to match her developing
mind. For the first time in her 13 years, she has chosen to look female.
How will this change her relationship with the inventor who loved her
like a son?
Featuring 18 stories from 26 creators, Beyond is a 250 page, black and white, queer comic anthology, full of swashbuckling space pirates, dragon slayers, monster royalty, and death-defying astronauts. Each story celebrates and showcases unquestionably queer
